Opera performs Donizetti masterpiece

Vashon Opera’s ninth season will open with the dramatic, romantic and character-driven bel canto opera “Lucia di Lammermoor”by Gaetano Donizetti at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Kay White Hall.

“Lucia di Lammermoor” is one of opera’s greatest dramas, filled with powerful arias and ensembles, including Lucia’s famous “mad scene.”

Karen Baer and Rick Wallace are sponsors of this opera’s showings.
