Local alt-folk rockers Saint Ophelia and psychedelic pop band General Mojo’s will play at a double-bill at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Open Space for Arts & Community.

Both bands are known for a soaring, spacious sound and an adventurous, genre-crossing approach to making music.

Saint Ophelia, fronted by vocalist Rebekah Kuzma and singer-songwriter Joseph Panzetta, also includes Dan Tyack on pedal steel guitar, Wesley Peterson on drums and Chuck Keller on bass. General Mojo’s is led by Dune Butler on vocals and bass, with Heather Thomas on vocals and percussion, David Salonen on vocals and guitar, Sam Veatch on drums and percussion, and Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews on vocals, keys and saxophone.

According to Panzetta, the idea for the two bands to play a double bill was sparked last October, when Saint Ophelia released its eponymous CD to a sold-out crowd at Vashon Center for the Arts. One of the highlights of the concert, he said, was having Vanderbilt-Matthews sit in with the band to play saxophone, keyboard, piano and clarinet.
