Vashon Island Chamber of Commerce executive director Amy Drayer received the 2024 Jean Bosch “Broad Shoulders, Big Heart” award on Jan. 31 from the island nonprofit Vashon HouseHold, acknowledging her and the Chamber’s work to strengthen the island’s network of nonprofits.

“Amy is a star,” Vashon HouseHold’s executive director, Jason Johnson, said in a prepared statement in a press release. “Amy’s leadership has been a proven asset to the community and to non-profit organizations across Vashon Island. She understands the limited capacities of non-profit organizations and is continually working to grow our impact by connecting us to each other and to the broader business community.”

The honor is given in memory of the organization’s founder, Jean Bosch, who died in 2017. Vashon HouseHold, which provides and supports affordable housing, awarded Drayer at the Chamber’s Nonprofit Roundtable recent meeting at the Vashon Public Library.

Drayer’s work includes founding a nonprofit roundtable, board training and recruitment event, providing technical assistance and resources to nonprofits, and committing to lowered fees for nonprofit membership and festival participation, according to Vashon HouseHold.

“Vashon’s spirit of collaboration and generosity infused my youth, and it’s led me to a lifelong dedication to service,” Drayer said in a prepared statement. “It’s amazing now to be at the Chamber of Commerce, an organization that at its core embraces and fosters that commitment. Thank you, Vashon Household, for this opportunity to celebrate service and community!”
