Many Island children enjoy their summer days at the YMCA Summer Enrichment Program at Chautauqua Elementary School.

The program is tailored to children entering kindergarten through sixth grade and their working parents, with hours from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will meet each week this summer from June 23 to Aug. 22 with part- time and-full time options available.

The Y program is designed to engage children in hands-on activities, learning, play and field trips, both on and off Island, to make their summer a memorable one.

Weekly themes, which provide creativity and structure, will include Buried Treasures; Heroes; Planets, Stars and Glaxies; Sea Monsters and Shark Tales; Forces of Nature; A Maze Adventure; A Wealth of Wildlife and Into the Air. Daily outdoor play and optional swimming lessons ensure full use of the summer sun and warmth.

Breakfast and an afternoon snack are provided.

The deadline for registration is the Thursday before the week parents would like a child to attend.
