Longtime employee made a difference at shop and beyond | Letter to the Editor

I and others with the American Hero Quilts were sad to hear that Mike Lambert left the Country Store with no fanfare. We assume no one had a retirement party for him and he left in the same way he did his job, quietly and effectively.

Since we did not get a chance to say goodbye or give him a toast, we wanted to do that here.

Mike handled shipping for us at the Country Store, and he did a wonderful job. He also was a great salesperson, whether it was finding some special plant in the nursery or ordering silk long underwear for an out-of-state elderly person who was cold all the time.

The most moving thing for us all was to watch Mike with Vi Beal. As Vi, the store’s original owner, has aged, Mike has helped her greatly. I remember thinking that she was so lucky to have such a dedicated man who obviously cared a great deal about her.

You will be missed, Mike.
