On page 18 of the June 18 Beachcomber, we were informed that Meaghan Connor received a Bachelor of Art’s. I have to know: How many bachelors does Art have? Does Art routinely award his bachelors to people, or is it stiff competition to receive one? What qualities in a person make him or her possible recipients of one of Art’s bachelors? I am sure there are many people in the Vashon community who would be interested in being considered for such an honor, and you might write a follow-up article with the details.

Seriously, misused apostrophes are becoming painfully ubiquitous, mostly by their inappropriate presence. I wince when I see them in advertisements. In books, they are often a sign that the rest of the volume is poorly written, as well.

Please review the rules for the humble but useful apostrophe. This used to be part of grade school curriculum. It is not rocket science. Those of us in the invisible Society of Apostrophe Lovers will bless you for it.
