Valued items were stolen

Sadly, the Vashon Island Cemetery gravesite of Ryan Krug was vandalized sometime between late afternoon March 13 and early afternoon March 14. Items of enormous meaning to the family were stolen: a light blue metal and glass lantern and the 6-foot stake on which it hangs; five colorful mosaic-adorned rocks that decorated Ryan’s resting place made by family and friends; a Rubbermaid Roughneck tub and lid containing candles, tea lights and lighter wands; a dark green, suede-bound book containing loving messages written by family and friends who visit Ryan.

The individual or individuals responsible for this theft perhaps have no idea of the pain they have inflicted. These are not just “things,” but loving mementos that comfort family and friends through an unimaginable loss. The family would like the items returned, particularly the green journal. Please find it within you to act honorably and return them.

The perpetrator(s) know that the name, phone number and mailing address are in the front of the journal. They should leave the book at the cemetery, Island Funeral Service, the library, the post office, the fire station, schools or any business on the island.

The good people of Vashon who support and comfort the Krugs will make sure it gets back to its rightful owners. Or they should call the number in the book and anonymously arrange to leave it at a location of your choosing.

Someone knows what has happened to these items. There is a reward for information leading to their recovery.

Ryan was a young man full of kindness. Those who have items from his resting place should please act in that spirit and return them, no questions asked.
