Reunion Tour

Snapdragon
A trivia night, hosted by Michael Whitmore, will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Snapdragon’s Home Sweet Home bar.
“Falsettos and Sunsets,” a full-length clown show for ages 18 and older, will be presented from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in Snapdragon’s Black Cat Cabaret. Written and performed by Marlo Winter and Luz Gaxiola, “Falsettos and Sunsets” tells the story of “a pair of cartoony and cool guys who fall in love and stumble through the world of polyamory.” Tickets are $10-$20 at the door.
A social dance party with instructor Sarah Howard will take place from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Snapdragon. The party will feature salsa, foxtrot, swing, waltz, and tango music, with mini-lessons throughout the evening. The bar will be open for food and drink, and solo dancers are welcome. There is a $10 suggested donation and a one-drink minimum.
Poetry night
Vashon poets will gather at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Vashon Heritage Museum, to share work they have created based on the work of Norman Edson. An islander from 1921 until he died in 1968, Edson was the only professional photographer on the island for much of that time. His photos of landmarks and people offer islanders glimpses into Vashon’s past.
Some’tet
The local jazz ensemble Some’tet will perform at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at Durong, located behind Vashon’s Sugar Shack. The show is free, with tips appreciated.
Vashon Heritage Museum
Vashon Heritage Museum will host “Mammoth Moments Family Day” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at 10105 Bank Road SW. Bring the whole family to visit the museum’s mural of Tusky the Mammoth, and enjoy kid- and toddler-friendly crafts and programming.
Rainbow Girls
Rainbow Girls — the trio of Caitlin Gowdy, Erin Chapin and Vanessa Wilbourn — will return to Vashon for the fourth time with an all-ages show at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Vashon Theatre, presented by islander Debra Heesch. The show — a treat for the many island fans of the trio’s irresistible harmonies — will include songs from their new album, “Haunting.” Get tickets at vashontheatre.com.
Vishniac film
“Vishniac,” a feature-length documentary film about the photographer Roman Vishniac — acclaimed for his indelible images of Jewish life in Eastern Europe from 1935 through 1938, will have a screening at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at Vashon Theatre.
Laura Bialis, the award-winning director and an executive producer of the film, will be in attendance. She will speak after the screening and answer questions from the audience.

VALISE
VALISE Gallery will be open from 12-5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20. According to VALISE member Bill Jarcho, the gallery, now exhibiting its “Comfy Chair Show,” will be open “as a refuge from the presidential inauguration to talk, laugh, eat cookies, sit in comfy chairs, commune, and honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.”
Salish Sea Early Music
The Salish Sea Early Music Festival will launch its 2025 season on Vashon with a concert at 12 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, with monthly concerts to follow.
The concert, “The Canzona 2025,” will feature Vicki Boekman on Renaissance recorders, Tina Chancey on the tenor viol, Jeffrey Cohan on Renaissance transverse flutes, and Anna March, playing dulcian (the Renaissance bassoon).

Pete Droge tickets
Islander and alt-rock music icon Pete Droge, joined by his longtime partner in life and music, Elaine Summers, will play a show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Vashon Center for the Arts.
The set will include old fan favorites and songs from Droge’s forthcoming album, “Fade Away Blue,” due later this year.
The show is all but certain to sell out. Get tickets starting on Friday, Jan. 24, at vashoncenterforthearts.org. Paid subscribers to Droge’s Substack newsletter, at petedroge.substack.com, will have access to early-bird tickets on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Whim W’Him
The award-winning Seattle-based contemporary dance company Whim W’Him will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Vashon Center for the Arts.
The dance concert, “Winter ‘25,” will feature works by choreographer Cameron Fraser-Monroe, a member of the Tla’amin First Nation; director and artist Robyn Mineko Williams; and a can’t-miss world premiere from Whim W’Him’s artistic director, Olivier Wevers.

Gangstagrass
Gangstagrass, a multi-racial collective of musicians who play a high-octane mix of country and hip-hop, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Vashon Center for the Arts. The group is known for creating a shared cultural space for dialogue and connection between groups of music lovers who seldom intersect.
