Star Anna
Island music presenter Debra Heesch will present Star Anna, a Seattle-based singer and songwriter, in an intimate concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Snapdragon Café and Bakery.
Star Anna will be playing some new songs, along with old favorites, Heesch said, calling the concert “a cozy way to spend the holiday weekend with good music and good company.” Admission is pay-what-you-can, she said, with everyone welcome to attend.
Mike Frazier
Attend another intimate evening of music with Mike Frazier playing with island fiddle player David Salonen at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Open Space for Arts & Community’s Black Box Theater.
Frazier, originally from the Shenandoah Valley, now resides in Seattle. His music draws inspiration from the valley he grew up in, his travels around the world, protest movements and folk music storytelling. Singer and songwriter Greg Curry will open the show.

The Yellin’ Degenerates
Jazz, funk, soul and blues will blend into an improvisation-driven and Americana-infused experience at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, when The Yellin’ Degenerates bring their shape-shifting sound to The Station, a new venue located across Vashon Highway from Snapdragon. The band is made up of four musicians.
The band includes John Pinetree, a multi-instrumentalist and storyteller bringing his bass-baritone voice, guitar grooves and searing harmonica to songs exploring hope, compassion, loss and gratitude. Jose “Juicy” Gonzales, a pianist and singer, has performed internationally, winning praise for music rooted in jazz, blues and funk. Rounding out the ensemble are bassist Michael Marcus and drummer Emory Miedema-Boyajian.

The Snowman
Vashon-Maury Island Preschool will present the classic animated children’s film “The Snowman,” followed by a dance party and crafts, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at Vashon Theatre. Admission is by a suggested donation of $10 at the door.
Chris Pierce
Chris Pierce, a celebrated folk musician and blues and soul singer, will appear in another intimate concert at Pop Pop Bottle Shop at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Islander Tyrel Stendahl, who frequently presents pop-up concerts in intimate spaces on Vashon, is bringing Pierce to the island for the show.
Praising Pierce’s incredible voice, Stendahl urged islanders to attend the show. “There’s something truly magical about hearing a big voice in a small room,” he said.

Elf
Vashon Park District will present “Elf,” the classic Christmas film, at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Vashon Theatre. Admission is by donation, with all proceeds benefiting Vashon High School Class of 2026.
The Nutcracker
The cherished holiday ballet will be performed at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 4 and 5, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and 7, at Vashon Center for the Arts. The matinee on Dec. 6 is sensory-friendly. The performance features student dancers from the Blue Heron Dance Company, guest performers and ballet students of Vashon Center for Dance. Holiday Studio Tour
Plan to attend Vashon Island Visual Artists’ annual Holiday Studio Tour, featuring 40 studios and galleries representing more than 150 artists on the tour. Running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 6-7 and 13-15, the tour is a chance to see Vashon’s vibrant community of artists in the places where they create their art and to shop for one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. Keltoi
Seattle’s celebrated Scottish Gaelic band Keltoi will perform Friday, Dec. 5, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 15420 Vashon Hwy SW. The show opens at 6:30 p.m. with a performance by piper John Dally and singer-songwriter Kat Eggleston, with Keltoi playing at 7 p.m.
Expect to hear spirited and varied repertoire across Irish, Scottish and Cape Breton music, with songs in English and Gaelic played on bagpipes, flutes, fiddles and other instruments. There is a $20 suggested donation for the concert.
Magical Strings
Magical Strings, founded by Northwest masters of Celtic music Philip and Pam Boulding, will bring Celtic harp, hammered dulcimer, accordion, concertina and more to a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Vashon Havurah, 15401 Westsdie Hwy SW. Chorale concert
Vashon Island Chorale will present “A Night of Silence” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Vashon Center for the Arts. The music selected includes songs of quiet reflection and a few rousing and inspiring carols the audience can join in singing. Get tickets and find out more at vashoncenterforthearts.org. Portage Fill
Portage Fill, Vashon’s venerable big band, will perform its annual holiday concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Vashon Theatre. The show will include seasonal songs and other music from the swing era, played with skill and sung with soul by some of Vashon’s finest musicians.
