The Portland blues duo Hillstomp will bring its distinctive backwoods American music to the Red Bike at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

With Henry Christian on guitar and John Johnson on percussion, with occasional help from Philip Guttman or David Lipkind on harmonica, Hillstomp’s music has been called junkbox blues, hill country blues stomp, North Mississippi trance blues and a bit of Appalachia. Add to all that a slide guitar and a punk sound from the clanging and tumbling of assorted buckets, cans and barbeque lids.

Between recordings and tours through the U.S. and Europe, Hillstomp has shared the stage with the likes of the Avett Brothers, Southern Culture on the Skids and Scott Biram, among others.

The free show is open to all ages until 11 p.m., then 21 and older after that.
