There won’t be a shortage of music on the Island this weekend, with note-worthy shows on tap at two Island venues.

The fun will start with a show by Michael Johnson, a renowned singer, songwriter and showman, who will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi.

Johnson, who has performed and recorded such hits as “Bluer Than Blue,” “Give Me Wings,” “That’s That” and “This Night Won’t Last Forever,” will be joined by special guest Kat Eggleston, an Islander who has dazzled audiences around the world with her song, voice and masterly guitar chops.

There is a $10 cover to the show, which is open to all ages until 11 p.m., when the venue is for age 21 and older only.

The danceable rythmns of rockabilly music will take over the next night at the Bike, when the Hard Money Saints play a show at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23.

Organizer Pete Welch said the Hard Money Saints’ sound — a blend of rockabilly and country — has been influenced by the band’s roots in modern rock, punk and metal music.

James Hunnicut, a singer and songwriter from Port Orchard, will open the show, which has a $5 cover charge.

Again, the show is open to all ages until 11 p.m. After that, only people 21 and older will be admitted.

Meanwhile, at Café Luna, several accomplished players will perform over the weekend.

At 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, The Hayburners, a duo comprised of Jennifer Spector and David Tieman, will give Islanders a dose of award-winning songwriting, guitar playing, harmonies and humorous insights on the institutions of marriage.

There is no cover charge, and a musical preview of The Hayburners’ act can be found at their Web site, www.thehayburners.com.

The next night, Seattle singers and songwriters Charlotte Thistle and Jean Mann will offer a combined concert at 7:30 p.m. at Café Luna.

Both Thistle and Mann are well-known players and recording artists with a wide range of credits and collaborations under their belts.

There is no cover charge for the show, but tipping is encouraged.
