Silverwood celebrates a big anniversary in Burton

Silverwood Gallery, a beloved anchor to the Island’s bustling art scene, is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

The anniversary show, “Shake the Tree 15,” will include work by owners Eric Heffelfinger, goldsmith, and Margaret Tylczak, painter. It will also feature the works of some of the gallery’s most noted artists, including oil paintings by Ted Kutscher and Gretchen Hancock, copper sculpture by Ivonne Escobar de Kommer and ceramic sculptor by Joanne Bohannon.

In Silverwood’s 15 years, the gallery has exhibited the works of more than 300 Vashon artists. Silverwood’s biennial invitational includes more than 100 artists in a single-themed show.

Silverwood was one of the originators of the First Friday gallery cruise.

The gallery is located in the historic Masonic building in Burton, a structure Heffelfinger and Tylczak have lovingly restored over the years.

Heffelfinger said he hopes the gallery will continue to be a presence in Burton for years to come.

“We’re just thrilled to be here and thrilled to have been successful on this Island,” Heffelfinger said.
