UMO Ensemble, Vashon’s acclaimed physical theater company, will bring its irreverent approach to ancient tales of wonder in “Zen Tales,” to be presented at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Open Space for Arts & Community.

UMO said the all-ages show will feature “red-nosed monk clowns tackling Buddhist, Zen and Sufi stories through mask, puppets, music, laughter and breathtaking physical skill.”

“Zen Tales,” which was conceived by UMO founder Janet McAlpin, had its debut in 2007, and the show has continued to evolve during several performances since then.

This time around, the show includes new cast members.

Tickets, $15 for adults and $5 for children, are on sale at Books by the Way, The Hardware Store Restaurant and by calling (206) 408-8059.

The show will also be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 29, and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 30, at ArtsWest, located at 4711 California Ave. S.W., Seattle. Tickets for those shows can be purchased at www. www.artswest.org.
