VCA Musical Theater will present new show

Vashon Center for the Arts will hold its first musical theater production on the new stage. Vashon children, grades 4 to 12 will perform a stage version of the popular show, Disney's "Aladdin JR."

Vashon Center for the Arts will hold its first musical theater production on the new stage. Vashon children, grades 4 to 12 will perform a stage version of the popular show, Disney’s “Aladdin JR.”

Based on the iconic animated film, with an Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Disney’s “Aladdin JR” tells the tale of street urchin Aladdin, who vies for the attention of the beautiful princess Jasmine.Using a genie’s magic power, Aladdin turns into a prince in order to marry her.

The characters of Iago, Jafar, the Genie and more will join Aladdin and Jasmine in the musical adventure that is filled with magic, mayhem and the power of love.

The show will be held at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 19.
