David Bowie tribute band, 80s prom this weekend

With the recent death of David Bowie, the rock world lost one its great icons and trailblazers. In celebration of his life and career, Vashon Center for the Arts will present BowieVision, the Northwest's premiere tribute band on Saturday evening. With video and lighting effects, deft musicianship and strong stage presence, the band will cover some of Bowie's greatest hits.

Preceding the Bowie concert will be an ’80s Prom hosted by The Famous Filson Sisters — Jennifer Sutherland and Tami Brockway Joyce — also known as The Washington State Fairies. The duo, dressed to the nines, will be the sequined chaperones for the evening. Everyone is invited to come in ’80s prom outfits ready to dance to songs of the ’80s, spun by a local deejay.

The prom will begin at 7 p.m. in the lobby of the VCA. The BowieVision concert will start at 8:30 p.m. in the performance hall. Tickets are sold at vashoncenterforthearts.com and VCA.
