At gatherings in private homes, watering holes and other local venues, islanders exulted as they watched the Seattle Seahawks finally and decisively claim redemption and revenge against the New England Patriots for a heartbreaking Super Bowl loss 11 years ago.
The Seahawks punished the Patriots throughout the game with a dominating defense, holding them scoreless until the fourth quarter of the game and finally snuffing out any chance for a Patriots comeback in the last, thrilling minutes of the game.
A packed crowd gathered at Vashon Theatre to watch the Hawks’ 29-13 victory on the biggest screen possible — a free yearly tradition hosted by Aaron Henderson and Mike England to benefit the programs of Vashon Rotary. This year’s screening benefited Rotary’s Alzheimer’s/Dementia Action Group.
