Make-a-Wish brings Vashon student and her family to Disney World

Yamama Almustafa, a 15-year-old freshman at Vashon Island High School, received her wish to travel to Disney World.

For more than 35 years, Make-A-Wish’s Alaska & Washington chapter has granted more than 7,600 wishes to children facing critical illnesses.

Recently, a Vashon student was a recipient of a wish that took her and her family to Disney World.

Yamama Almustafa, a 15-year-old freshman at Vashon Island High School, said she grew up always loving Disney. Almustafa also has been diagnosed with leukemia, and the hospital she received care from told her family about Make-A-Wish.

Almustafa and her family traveled to Disney World in late March.

According to Almustafa, her favorite part of the trip to the famous theme park was the fireworks and light shows.

“[It was] just like a dream,” said Almustafa in a phone interview with The Beachcomber. “I never expected we would be able to go to Disney.”
