Submit music to be played on VoV

Voice of Vashon, which recently transitioned to a “mostly music” format, has a new way for Islanders to submit their music to the local media station (www.voiceofvashon.org).

To collect CDs from Islanders wishing to submit their music to Voice of Vashon, Café Luna has installed a VoV Music Box at the end of the bar.

The Music Box is simply a Plexiglas box with a slot in the top wide enough to accommodate a CD.

Every CD should be accompanied by the artist’s contact information. VoV’s Audio Content Committee will then review the CD, and the artist will be sent a release granting Voice of Vashon permission to play the CD. Since no music can be played without permission, it is therefore vital that each CD be accompanied by the artist’s contact information.

Also, a word of warning: Music with offensive language will probably not be played; context will dictate any exceptions. Recording quality should be clear and listenable — it does not have to be perfect.

CDs in the Music Box will be picked up by VoV once a week and submitted for review.

Island musicians can also look forward to an additional avenue for airplay in 2010, when VoV will install a new Web site where artists can upload their music directly, along with a standard release form, all in one simple operation.

More information can be obtained by calling VoV at 463-0301 or e-mailing info@voiceofvashon.org.
