VISD participates in Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action

Week focuses on themes such as restorative justice, empathy, loving engagement, diversity and globalism.

Vashon Island School District (VISD) and its community partners are participating in Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action, which runs from Monday, Jan. 31 to Friday, Feb 4.

VISD’s focus for this year’s activities is “everyone is welcome,” and focuses on guiding principles such as restorative justice, empathy, loving engagement, diversity and globalism.

Students will also engage in activities that include showing solidarity with the Black Lives Movement in attire, attending anti-racist events in support of racial equity, making art that celebrates the diversity of the community and more.

The community is also invited to follow along with activities the school is participating in. For more information about the Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action activities, visit bit.ly/33YMpEo.
