Maxine Joy Anderson

Maxine passed away peacefully with family at her side after a courageous battle with lung disease. Maxine, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mitzi Beall was born and raised on Vashon Island. She graduated from Vashon Island High School in

1955 and attended WSU before meeting and

marrying the love of her life, the late Jerry

Anderson. They married on December 28th,

1956 and settled on Vashon Island where they would spend the next 50 years. Maxine was brought up in the flower industry and worked many years helping cultivate the Beall family business on Vashon. Maxine raised four children and was a loving, wonderful and dedicated mother that cared deeply for her family and friends. She dedicated much time later in life to many of her favorite volunteer opportunities and various causes. Maxine and Jerry had an enriching and adventurous life, exploring all parts of the world and spent many happy years in Kauai, Palm Springs and Tucson enjoying and living life to the fullest. Maxine leaves behind her children Pamela (Digby) Williams, Scott (Joyce) Anderson, Jon (Ramona) Anderson and Melissa Anderson (Mark Gill); her brothers Thomas (Nancy), Michael (Virginia) and Donald Beall and sisters Mary (Mark) Crooks and Sharon Ericksen. She was the beloved “Tutu” of 6 grandchildren: Ryan and Bridgette Taggart, Kristine and Tyler

Anderson, and Nolan and Haley Anderson. Many thanks go out to the friends and family that supported Maxine during this difficult time. A special thanks to the staff at Virginia Mason and Regional Respiratory Care Hospital that provided love, care and support for Maxine during the last several months.

She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit on Vashon Island, on December 28, 2012 at 11:30AM.

The family requests that those wishing to honor her memory, may do so by donating to the Church of the Holy Spirit on Vashon Island or the Vashon

Heritage Museum.
