McMurray Mustangs shine at track and field meet in Poulsbo

On April 30, 58 athletes from the McMurray Middle School track team competed in a meet at North Kitsap High School. Individual highlights include:

• Garrett Starr — first place in 100 meters and 200 meters.

• Abigail Kim — first place in 100 meters and 400 meters; third place in long jump and turbo javelin.

• Owen Brenno — first place in high jump and long jump; third place in 100 meters.

• Margaret Heagerty — first place in 75-meter hurdles; second place in 200-meter hurdles.

• Jack Brenner — first place in 400 meters.

• Philip Vandevanter — first place in discus; third place in shot put.

• Hart Heffelfinger — first place in shot put.

• Anya Quig — first place in 200 meters and long jump.

• Karen Woodworth — first place in turbo javelin.

• Nat Zang — second place in 800 meters.

Llira McEachern — second place in 800 meters.

• Kalie Heffernan — third place in discus.

• Reece Kelly — third place in 200 meters.

Relay results were:

• Second place in the girls’ 4×100 (Lilli Newman, Harper Howard, Skyler Howard, Mallory Cain).

• Second place in the boys’ 4×200 (Philip Vandevanter, Owen Brenno, Reece Kelly, Garret Starr).

• Second place in the girls’ 4×200 (Abigail Kim, Liv Fearey, Mercedes Lozano, Kalie Heffernan).

• Second place in the boys’ 4×400 (Grant Lyons, Nat Zang, Zach Wall, Ryan Krug).
