Vashon High School’s boys’ soccer team played two games this week and came out victorious.
The Vashon Pirates baseball team capped a record-setting season, winning three close games last week to take the Nisqually League title with a perfect 12-0 record in league play.
After a month of competition in blustery spring conditions, Vashon’s junior rowers traveled to Canada for the 46th Annual Brentwood Regatta. Its weather atoned for everything with three days of sparkling conditions on the shore of Vancouver Island at Brentwood College — a private high school located 30 miles north of Victoria.
The VHS track and field team has enjoyed mild weather, focused workouts and the fruits of their hard labor as they measure their success with a multitude of personal records (PRs) set in competition over the past two weeks.
Vashon girls’ tennis entered the last week of May with a 7-4 record and two difficult matches scheduled.
On Monday, April 18, the Vashon High School boys’ soccer team played Cascade Christian at Bonney Lake High School and came away with the win.

Vashon’s high school boys’ lacrosse team played Klahowya last Wednesday in an important league game. Klahowya is the league leader with Vashon in second. Vashon keeper Duncan McMillan is ranked second in the league with a 58 percent save rate, while Klahowya’s keeper is first at 60 percent. Next best to them is a distant 42 percent.

Canyons breathe. In the morning, they exhale dense, cold air downstream from their upper reaches. In the afternoon, they inhale the warmer air from lower elevations in an upriver flow. Dexter Lake, south of Eugene, sits in a canyon that was huffing and puffing this weekend much to the dismay of 30 rowing clubs from Oregon, Washington and Northern California that showed up for the Covered Bridge Regatta. This major annual regatta is the sort of Mason-Dixon Line for West Coast rowing — the only time when clubs from the Southwest race against their Northwest competition until teams meet at Youth Nationals at the end of the season.
The Vashon Pirate baseball team wrapped up a spring break road trip, losing two close games and emerging with a tie in extra innings. While still undefeated in Nisqually League play, the team’s overall record sits at 7-3-1.
The Vashon High School girls’ softball team had two successful wins in its recent outings.
The Vashon girls’ tennis team finished up a busy week prior to spring break. For the week of April 4, the team started out with a much-needed practice day on Monday. On Tuesday, it hosted Northwest Christian for a home match.
