Playing now at Vashon Theatre
“Cyrano,” starring Peter Dinklage, has its last screening on Thursday, March 24. Other upcoming screenings include “The Met: Live – Don Carlos” at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 26. Community Pub is hopping
The Coop at Cliff’s, with band members Wilson Abbott, JT Wingett, and Rick and Andy Doussett, will serve up tunes at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Vashon Brewing Community Pub. The group regularly appears at the pub every fourth Thursday of the month. The next night, award-winning duo Sundae + Mr. Goessl will play their blend of jazzified county and pop music at 6 p.m. Friday, March 25, at the pub.
Willy Porter in concert
Acoustic guitarist and songwriter Willy Porter will perform at Vashon Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m.Thursday, March 24.
Porter began his career in music and storytelling in the late 1980s, while living in Madison, Wisconsin. He now has 11 albums and tours to multiple continents under his belt. Porter is known for the guitar-driven grit, soul and muscle of his live shows.

A Tribute to Nina Simone
Dubbed “The First Lady of Portland Blues,” LaRhonda Steele will celebrate the timeless songs of Nina Simone and honor all that she stood for. The event will be held at Vashon Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26.
Steele has been recognized as one of the best blues and gospel vocalists and songwriters in the Northwest. Buy general admission tickets, $28, at vashoncenterforthearts.org. All patrons will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test, and masks are required.
Stand-up comedy at Vashon Theatre
Celebrate April Fool’s Day at Vashon Theatre with live stand-up comedy from past Seattle International Comedy Competition comics Mo Mandel, Scott Losse and Greg Beachler.
Featured comic Mo Mandel has previously been featured on CBS’ “2 Broke Girls” and Comedy Central’s sitcom “Corporate.” Mandel has recently released his first hour-long special “Negative Reinforcement,” on Amazon Prime Video.
The event begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 1. Tickets are $30 and are available for purchase at vashontheatre.com.
Musical theater kids in ‘Once Upon a Mattress’
Bring the whole family to a musical theatre performance by the talented youth of Vashon Center for the Arts’ (VCA) Musical Theater Program, when the troupe presents the classic musical, “Once Upon a Mattress.” The show, based on the classic tale of The Princess and the Pea, first opened on Broadway in 1959, starring a bright and funny new talent — Carol Burnett.
