Triathlon held in Burton during Strawberry Festival

The XTerra Triathlon was held in Dockton Park on Sunday, July 13.

Beginning at 9 a.m., more than 100 participants swam half a meter in Quartermaster Harbor, mountain biked 14 miles and ran a 3.6 mile trail run.

Jason Jablonski finished first, completing the course in 1:24:18. He was followed by Grant Folske in 1:28:37 and Adam Wirth, who crossed the finish line in 1:28:48.

David Skrzypek, 39, the only person registered as a Vashon resident who participated in the race, finished 92nd out of the 121 participants, completing the three legs in a time of 2:25:13.

Charlie Katica and Alissa Katica are Island natives. He ran the race in 1:56:52, while she came in at 2:27:25.
