After a successful debut season that included rave reviews and sold-out productions of “La Bohème” and “The Tender Land,” Vashon Opera Company has announced its much-anticipated second season.

The opera company, led by Island soprano Jennifer Krikawa, will present Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at Vashon High School Theater. The opera will have a discounted dress rehearsal performance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8.

Tickets to regular performances can be purchased now at www.vashonopera.org. Tickets cost $32 if purchased singularly, or $28 if purchased in combination with Vashon Opera’s spring production of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly,” which will have performances at 8 p.m. Friday, May 13 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Bethel Church. Krikawa will sing the title role in that opera.

The cast of “Barber” includes Wesley Rogers, Sarah Mattox, Andrew Krikawa, David Stutz, Jonathan Silvia, Holly Boaz, Ryan Bede and Gordon Millar. The opera’s director will be Jim Brown, who is chair of the voice department at Pacific Lutheran University.
