A new season of Vashon Allied Arts’ family series will kick off this Sunday with a performance by Seattle entertainer Linda Severt.

“Juggletunes,” a show geared toward elementary age children, spotlights Severt as a solo performer who somehow manages to be a circus, a complete band, a songwriter and a vaudeville act, all in one.

In her 26 years of family entertaining, Severt has performed at such venues and events as the Kennedy Center, Teatro Zinzanni and the UMO ensemble, at children’s festivals and at clown festivals all over the world.

She is also a respected multi-instrumentalist and singer who has toured with the Laura Love band and has won awards for her children’s music CDs. Her latest family CD of original songs won several national awards, including a Parents’ Choice Silver Award. In the judge’s words, Severt “successfully keeps so many musical styles going while singing some of the wittiest lyrics this side of Dr. Seuss.”

Severt will perform “Juggletunes” at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Blue Heron.

For tickets, $5 for youth and $8 for adults, see www.vashonalliedarts.org or call 463-5131.
