Friday Gallery Cruise: ’Tis the season to buy some art

Most art spots are open from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday
The Hardware Store Restaurant will show artwork by 12 artists from the Barnworks collective.
Vashon Intuitive Arts will exhibit poster art and tie-dye by Rod Smith, with music by Song and Legend.
Hinge Gallery will present a curated show of etchings and oil paintings by shop owner/artist Brent Houston and local text-based printmaker and author Jesse Johnson. The exhibition will feature new works from both artists.
Jessica DeWire’s stained glass show called “Lux Saturnalia” will open and be on display at Hastings-Cone Gallery.
“Mornings and Evenings in places I love” is the title of a new show of oil paintings by Kathy Larsdotter on display at Café Luna. Scenes from Vashon, the Okanogan and the Wind River Range will be featured.
Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union will feature artist Marc Pease, showing two encaustic collections: “Love of the Game” and “Love on the Beach.” Music will be provided by CatBird — Mary Shackleford and Jim Burke — playing a mix of old time, jazz and ballads on guitar, mandolin and banjo.
Vashon Center for the Arts’ Koch Gallery will present its annual Masters in Miniature Exhibition. The exhibit will showcase art by over 30 island artists working with wood, painting, mixed media, photography, fiber, clay and more. The invitational show began in 2007 by co-curators Janice Mallman and Carol Schwennesen. Their legacy continues with Devin Grimm now co-curating with Schwennesen. The Artist Talk will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the gallery.
Vashon Senior Center will show batik artist Marcia McKinzie’s watercolor landscapes, birds and flowers on rice paper.
Raven’s Nest Gallery will hold a holiday open house with refreshments and live music by Some’tet and feature the Shotridge Collection Brand, works by Tlingit artist Israel Shotridge. Shotridge’s vintage art prints will be offered to all the visitors on Friday “to thank the community for its support on Vashon for the past 20 years.”
Sarah’s Salon willshow work by Marla Kampschroer, whose show is called “Art Honoring Life.” She paints in acrylic and watercolor, does pencil drawings and makes belly casts and driftwood art.
S.A.W. will feature hand-crafted hats, scarves and gloves, with works by Marcy McCarthy, Mary Shemeta, Erinn McIntyre, Lois Yunker, Janis Randall and Kim Brown.
