Mandolinist, composer, bandleader and producer David “Dawg” Grisman has been a guiding force in the evolving world of acoustic music for nearly half a century. He will bring his wide-ranging music to Vashon for two performances at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday at Kay White Hall.

Over the years, Grisman has pursued multiple styles, genres and traditions, skillfully combining elements of jazz and bluegrass with international flavors and sensibilities to create his own distinctive idiom of “Dawg” music, the nickname given to him by Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead.

Tickets are available at vashoncenterforthearts.org and VCA.
