Crowd-pleaser Clinton Fearon will bring his Boogie Brown Band back to Vashon for a show at 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi.

Like other Jamaican reggae musicians who came of age in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Fearon was a country boy who migrated to Kingston as a teenager, hoping to make his mark in the big city. Soon after he arrived, he joined Albert Griffiths and Errol Grandison to form the Gladiators, a well-known band that launched his musical career. Fearon moved to Seattle in 1989, where he co-founded The Defenders. Since 1993, he’s played with his own band, The Boogie Brown Band.

Opening up for Fearon will be the Sum Band, whose island members — Chai Ste Marie, Josh DeHaven and Vor Hostetler — are all longtime Clinton Fearon fans.

The cover charge for the night is $10, and it is an all-ages event until 11 p.m., and for ages 21 and older after that. Previous shows with Fearon at the The Red Bike have sold out, so promoters advise buying tickets in advance at vashonevents.com/support-us/clintonfearon2018.
