Calling artists to build a fairy village
This spring, Open Space for Arts & Community has teamed up with Vashon MakerSpace to commission makers, dreamers, artists, and craftspeople to create a new artistic experience: a village of intricate fairy houses to tuck into the Douglas fir grove on the grounds of Open Space. The outdoor exhibit will open to the public on June 25.
This project is part of Open Space’s ongoing Attention! Artists at Work program, which assists artists impacted by the economic repercussions of COVID-19.
Artists selected to participate in the project will be paid $500 for the first entry and $350 for each additional tiny fairy house.
A small materials stipend will be made available to each artist as well as free membership to the Vashon Tool Library.
The deadline to apply is March 31.
