Vashon Rep brings ‘Oscar’s Journey’ to Ober Park

Head to Ober Park at 5 p.m. Sunday, August 17, to see “Oscar’s Journey, The Fall and Rise of the Bird King” — a presentation of Vashon Park District and Vashon Repertory Theatre.
The play, by Bryan Willis with original music created and performed by Kat Eggleston, debuted last summer as part of Vashon Rep’s 2024 season.
Now, it’s back to again charm audiences with the tale of the troll now ensconced in Point Robinson Park as part of a world-wide display of sculptures by Danish artist Thomas Dambo.
Drawing on an abundance of Scandinavian folklore, Willis has written an original, fanciful story about the origins of both Oscar’s “trolliness” and his place as protector of the birds.
Directed by Vashon Rep artistic director Charlotte Tiencken, the cast and crew for the show includes Eggleston, Samara Alanis, Juniper Alanis, Kaycie Alanis, Indigo Alton, Kenny Alton, Chris Boscia, Derek Du, Kingsley Du, Kat Eggleston, Holly Johnson, Lucy Rogers, Steven Sterne, Leo Watson, Jerry Wang and Michael Wishkoski,
This year’s reprisal of “Oscar’s Journey” in Ober Park will include a few new twists. With loads of audience interaction, “Oscar’s Journey” has plenty of humor and a gentle message for all.
Admission is free, with donations accepted.
