The Vashon Sportsmen’s Club hosted its annual Turkey Shoot on Saturday, Nov. 22, bringing together 32 competitors — from first-time shooters to longtime members — for a family-friendly trapshooting contest ahead of Thanksgiving.

Participants attempted to hit 25 clay targets launched at random angles, a challenge that typically separates the field quickly, club member Matthew Boyle said. This year, two shooters achieved perfect scores: Alex Kerber and Cindy Morrison, who tied for first after breaking all 25 targets. Jack Kassik followed close behind with a score of 24.

Boyle said the Turkey Shoot is a longstanding island tradition that kicks off Thanksgiving week and offers a mix of friendly competition and community camaraderie.

The club also hosts informal trapshooting events on Wednesday afternoons for shooters of all experience levels. More information is available at vashonsportsmensclub.com.
