Vashon Events will hold an open house for its long-running and much-used musical instrument lending library from 12 p.m. until late afternoon Saturday, July 26, outside the library located in the 02 Building at Open Space for Arts & Community.
The free, all-ages event is aimed at families and islanders of all ages — including seasoned players, total beginners, and those who are just music curious. Attendees can try out new instruments, enjoy live performances, and connect with local players at the event’s “Ask a Musician” table.
Vashon Events will also offer select instruments for sale, from its overstock) and will also accewpt donations of gently used instruments to help grow the library.
“Bring a friend, bring your kids, and bring your love for music,” said Pete Welch, who co-founded Vashon Events in 2013 with Allison Jones. The nonprofit organization helps promote local concerts and events, is a hub for finding out more about Vashon’s music scene, and over the years has curated events including Strawberry Festival and Vashon Park District’s annual free, outdoor concert series in Ober Park.
Vashon Events’ free musical instrument lending libary was founded in 2015, and since that time has fostered a love of playing music in scores of island kids and adults.
