Musicians team up to benefit food bank

Published 12:45 pm Tuesday, December 17, 2013

This Friday at Nirvana, a stellar lineup of local musicians will sing for food — though not for themselves, to help islanders in need. The evening show kicks off an annual seasonal tradition, and all proceeds will benefit the Vashon Maury Community Food Bank.

Each musician at “Will Sing for Food,” set for 8:30 p.m. Friday, will perform two holiday carols. The variety of songs will reflect the breadth and talent of Vashon’s own, including musicians Allison Shirk, Jacob Bain, Delilah Pearl, Greg Dember, Michael Whitmore, Kim Thal, Roger Taylor, Sarah Christine, Andy James, Dianne Krouse, Jon Whalen, Gregg Curry, Kat Eggleston, Cami Lundeen and more.

Audience members at this free event are encouraged to help fill a “tip jar” for the food bank and/or bring non-perishable donations such as canned food, pet food and toiletries. All ages are welcome until 11 p.m., then 21 and older only.
