Matt Smith, a multi-talented actor from Bainbridge Island, will perform his latest monologue, “All My Children,” at the Blue Heron at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5.

The adult-themed one-man show — called “daringly funny” by one critic — tells the story of a man who tracks down several of his ex-girlfriends’ grown children and claims to have fathered them.

Smith, a locally acclaimed screen and stage actor, trainer, auctioneer and playwright, has earned a reputation as a skilled improvisational actor but has also written and performed several of his own monologues.

His screen credits include popular films and shows such as “Outsourced,” “Spiderman,” “Sleepless in Seattle,” and “Northern Exposure.”

Smith co-founded the legendary Seattle Improv in 1985 and Stark/RavingTheatre with Ed Sampson in 1988. He has also appeared on “Almost Live!,” a Seattle sketch comedy show.

Janice Randall, director of communications and performing arts for Vashon Allied Arts, said she is pleased to see Smith perform on Vashon for the first time. While the Blue Heron has often hosted one-woman shows, she doesn’t remember a one-man monologue.

“He’s known for his humorous dialogues. … I think it’ll appeal to both men and women,” she said.

Tickets for the 85-minute show — $15 and $18 — are available now at Blue Heron, Heron’s Nest, Books by the Way and BrownPaperTickets.com or by calling 463-5131.
