This is supposed to be a review of the Vashon High School musical “The Drowsy Chaperone,” pointing out the flaws and highlights of the production. But I am going to open this critique with a simple declaration: This show is pure fun!

“The North Pool,” a one-act psychological drama that involves an emotionally and politically charged conversation between a high school vice-principal and a Middle-Eastern born transfer student will be presented as a staged reading at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Blue Heron.
Vashon Island Chorale will present its annual spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Church.
Occasionally there are watershed events that change the course of one’s life in a single moment. For islander and musician Jason Everett, that instant arrived via a song on the car radio when Everett, age 16 at the time, heard the title track “Quiet” for a band called Ancient Future. Fast forward to next Wednesday when Everett will perform with Ancient Future at the Vashon Theatre.
Teresa Tudury, who first appeared on Vashon with the Church of Great Rain, will bring her special brand of music — called a cross between Bonnie Raitt and Bette Midler — to the Havurah Ee Shalom at 7 p.m. Friday.
TRIBE-olution will bring a colorful celebration of dance to The Open Space for Arts & Community at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
In honor or Holy Week, local author Deborah Anderson and artist Will Forrester will present poems and painting from the book “Kneeling at the Cross: A Protestant Looks at Crucifixion” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Vashon Bookshop.
Johnny Lund and the Galaxies will play rock ’n’ roll in a free show at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Red Bike.
Let’s just say this is a big deal. Grammy-award winning guitarist Bill Frisell and acclaimed composer and violist Eyvind Kang are coming to Vashon to play a benefit concert for Vashon Youth & Family Services (VYFS) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at the Vashon Theatre.
Most galleries and art spots are open from 6 to 9 p.m.
