Scene & Heard: Hundreds show up for Waterworks farewell party

This year’s party was bittersweet.

Following a long and treasured tradition, Waterworks Studio opened the Vashon Island Studio Art Tour with a preview party on Friday, Dec. 1, attended by hundreds of movers and shakers in Vashon’s arts community.

This year’s party was bittersweet — local art luminaries Christine and Darcie Beck, who for decades have transformed their home into the Waterworks Studio for studio tours, have announced that this year’s show will be the last for the collective.

So don’t miss stopping at Waterworks during the final weekend of the tour, Dec. 9 and 10, to see artwork in multiple media by a total of 17 participating local artists in the incredible creative environment that the Becks have built. And while you’re there, thank Christine and Darsie for their decades of deep community-building and support for artists on Vashon.

They created something lasting and beautiful on Vashon.

Waterworks, located on Maury Island at 7012 SW 240th St, is stop #9 on the tour. Find out more about the tour and plan your route at vivartists.com.
