Thirty-three members of Vashon’s swim team, the Seals, took part in a three-day invitational meet at Evergreen State College March 13 to 15.

Kyra MacLeod swam in 12 events and earned a total of 64 points for her team. She ended up nearly 20 points ahead of her closest teammate.

Another gold time came for her the following day with a 19.36-second swim in the 25 free. Overall, she finished in the top six in all but one of her 12 events. Time improvements came in five of her 12 events for a cumulative time drop of 23.18 seconds. The largest, 10.82 seconds, was recorded in the 100-yard individual medley.

Older members of the team swam Friday afternoon in the 1650-yard freestyle: Amanda Ohmert, Keara Mulvihill, Lauren Houston and Kendall Danzer. Ohmert lead the team to finish in 13th place in 24 minutes, 33.37 seconds.

Mulvihill, Houston and Danzer followed in 14th, 15th and 17th place, respectively. Three other members would have swum this event, but were out for the weekend with flu-like symptoms.

The Seals’ next meet is April 18 and 19 at South Kitsap Pool.
