Wrestlers soar through grueling season

Last weekend the Pirate wrestlers had an exceptionally tough schedule and came out on top after seven dual meets in a 24-hour period. At the end of the second full week of competition, the small Pirate squad had racked up an impressive 7-1 record.

VHS tennis team sees mixed results at districts

The final tournament of the season for Vashon boys tennis took place last Thursday and Friday at the Lakewood Racquet Club. Vashon had a somewhat daunting task due to some unfortunate seeding, which had them facing first or second seeds in the first round.

Fall rowing season ends on high note

The first Sunday in November is the date for the Northwest’s premier fall regatta, the Head of the Lake race through the University of Washington’s Montlake Cut.

At end of season, football team notches big win

It was a perfect setting for a Halloween night football game. Darkness fell, the temperature dropped, and the steam rose in waves off the football players’ sweaty bodies. The fog rolled in off the treeline, settling low over the Pirates’ home field, and Vashon rolled over the Chimacum Cowboys, scoring a season-high seven touchdowns, and winning the contest, 54-20.

Soccer advances in playoffs

The Vashon High School girls’ soccer team is in the midst of a playoff run. The West Central District tournament kicked off last weekend, as the Pirates took on the Coupeville Wolves of Whidbey and produced a dominating 3-0 Vashon win.
