A beloved tradition continues this weekend and next when Vashon artists open their studios to visitors during the Holiday Vashon Island Art Studio Tour. With over 100 artists showing and selling work in 32 studios and shops, the tour will be held on Dec. 6 and 7 and Dec. 13 and 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Vashon Island is full of holiday treasures, and many concert-goers consider the Vashon Island Chorale’s annual holiday concert to be one of them. This year, the chorale will honor holiday treasures with its Holiday Treasures Concerts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Church.
They’re back. Publish The Quest, a popular band with deep Vashon roots, will return to play at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Red Bike.
Vashon Theatre’s screen will light up in the next week with both a classic American play, “Of Mice and Men,” and a Russian ballet, “The Legend of Love.”
The Seattle International Comedy Competition will make a stop at the Vashon Theatre tonight, Nov. 26, on its way to the final round.

Stories and images from around the globe in the form of eight international live action and animated short films will light up Vashon Theatre’s silver screen from noon to 2:15 p.m. Saturday.
Vashon Allied Arts and the Friends of Mukai have joined forces to bring “Panama Hotel Jazz” by the Steve Griggs Ensemble to the island at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Blue Heron. The event is the first performance in VAA’s Jazz Series.
Singer-songwriter Emree Franklin will perform at Snapdragon from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday.
Last summer, island-born musician Jacob Bain (Publish the Quest and Trolls Cottage) helped bring the Zimbabwe band Mokoomba to the island for a wildly successful evening of African world music.
The Vashon High School’s Theatre Arts II class will perform the play “30 Reasons Not To Be In A Play” for one weekend only, beginning on Friday.
Art historian Rebecca Albiani will give a talk on the German still-life painter, naturalist and scientific illustrator Maria Sibylla Merian at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Methodist church.
Enjoy the sounds of Hawaii without leaving Vashon when slack key guitarist Makana returns to perform at the Open Space for Arts & Community at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
